Quick 3 days trip from Fez to Merzouga Desert & Camel Trek

Tour Overview

This 3 days adventure is a perfect quick escape from Fes to the heart of the Sahara. Your journey takes you through the Middle Atlas Mountains, past Ifrane’s alpine scenery and the cedar forests of Azrou, to the dramatic Todra Gorges. The highlight is a camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes near Merzouga, where you’ll spend a night in a Berber camp, enjoying dinner and drumming music under the stars. After witnessing a stunning desert sunrise, you’ll return by camel and drive back to Fes.

Highlights of the 3 days trip from Fez to Merzouga desert :

• Sahara Desert Night: Ride a camel into the Erg Chebbi dunes and spend a night in a traditional Berber camp.

Tour itinerary 

1^st day: Fez – Toudghra gorges.

   After breakfast at the hotel, you will head to Todgha Gorges, passing through Ifrane – nicknamed Little Switzerland – to reach the cedar forests of Azrou where wild monkeys are located. It will be a good opportunity to take some pictures of the wilderness there; you will have lunch in a Berber village, Zaida and follow the road through the Atlas Mountains enjoying the landscape of Midelt to the small town of Rish. Here, you turn right to pass through the famous town of Imilchil before reaching the Toudga Gorge in the evening.

2^nd day: Toudgha gorges – Merzouga desert.

     You will travel from the gorges of Toudgha to Merzouga. You will see Berber villages scattered along the way. You’ll pass through Tinjdad, the Jerf and Erfoud, where You’ll feel the beginning of the desert oasis of Tafilalet and then continue to Merzouga. There you go for a camel ride in the Erg Chebbi sand dunes.

It’s a great experience to imagine yourself riding a camel in the erg Chebbi where the silence of the desert then everything else. Before you reach the camp, you leave the camels and walk to the high sand dunes to see the sunset. Dinner will be served under a Berber tent with Berber drumming music.

3^rd day: Merzouga – Fez.                                    

     After early sunrise, you are going to return by camel to Merzouga, to shower and have breakfast. Then you’ll leave to Fez and the trip end.
